News & Updates

Hello WCYWA Families,

Happy New Year!! I hope everyone had a happy & safe holiday season & is ready to start wrestling in 2018! Here is some News & Updates for this week as well as some very important Fundraiser Information:

NEWS & UPDATES

  • Please come out to show your support this Wednesday night (1/3/2018) at 7:00 PM for WC Henderson’s wrestling team as they will be hosting their first Home Dual Meet against Avon Grove.   The Henderson wrestling family will also be remembering the late Frank Patton who passed away this past October.  Frank was the grandfather of WCYWA wrestler’s Brett Patton, Jake Bauer, Tyler Conroy and Brody Patton. The four boys will be honorary captains for the meet.  As many of you know, Frank was a staple on the edge of the mat supporting his grandkids who wrestled at both the West Chester Youth level and Henderson HS.

The Henderson wrestling booster club will be selling “Patton Army” tee shirts.  Proceeds of the sales will be donated to a scholarship fund in Frank’s name for one of the Henderson wrestlers.

  • Our first SATURDAY “AWAY” MEET is this coming weekend on Saturday, December 6th at Penncrest High School. ARRIVAL TIME IS 7:00-7:30 AM. We will be wrestling against Media, Upper Dublin & Academy Park. http://www.westchesteryouthwrestling.com/event/show/396926461
  • There is NO Wednesday Night WC Elite Practice this week. Session 2 begins next week (Wednesday, January 10th – 6:00-7:15 pm) & runs for 7 weeks. The cost for Session 2 is $75 for the full session, or $15 per practice. Please email Coach Mike Spilotros with any questions: mspilo@comcast.net
  • We have our regular Tuesday & Thursday night practices this week.
  •

As you are all aware, West Chester Youth Wrestling is a NON-PROFIT, 100% VOLUNTEER organization. Every dime that comes into the group goes into providing your wrestler with the best possible environment & experience. We are very lucky to have access to one of the best wrestling facilities in Eastern PA (Church Farm School Pavilion) but it comes at a great cost. Our annual registration fees cover the cost of our rental & the cost of the USA Wrestling Insurance that we provide for all of our wrestlers. EVERY OTHER EXPENSE IS PAID FOR THROUGH OUR FUNDRAISING EFFORTS & YOUR GENEROSITY.

In an effort to “Keep it Simple” we have 2 annual fundraising programs that provide the club with the operating capital that we need to buy Singlets, wrestling supplies, medical supplies & other club related purchases. On singlets alone the club will be spending over $7,000 this year & next. The club will also need to start replacing our wrestling mats & we are saving funds for that huge expense. We ask that you do all that you can to help support the following programs:

RAFFLE TICKETS

Raffle Tickets are a fun & easy way our wrestlers to help support the club. With 3 VERY generous prizes they are an attractive offer for family & friends. Many of our wrestling families simply choose to make a “donation” of the cost per wrestler ($100) & keep the tickets themselves for an opportunity to bring home the $2000 prize. That’s what happened last year to one of our lucky WCYWA families!

YOU CAN PICK UP YOUR RAFFLE TICKETS STARTING TONIGHT (1/2/2018) AT PRACTICE!!

WCYWA 2017 2018 RAFFLE TICKETS

Grand Prize                 $2000

2nd Prize                      $1000

3rd Prize                       $500

What is it?

The WCYWA Raffle Ticket program is our primary fundraising source for the 2017/2018 season. With the proceeds from the sales of tickets we will to be able to purchase new singlets for the wrestlers, equipment for the club, & gifts (Trophies, T-shirts, Bags, etc) for the wrestlers to be given out at our end of year banquet.

How does it work?

  1. The raffle tickets cost $10 per ticket
  2. Each WCYWA wrestler is responsible for selling ten (10) raffle tickets
  3. Each WCYWA will receive an additional five (5) tickets as “extras”. If you need more please ask
  4. Each raffle ticket is perforated & numbered. The person buying the ticket fills out their Name, Phone #, & Email Address & keeps the left hand portion of the ticket. Please write your wrestler’s name on the right hand portion of the ticket. This will be handed in for the drawing.
  5. The deadline for handing in your tickets is THURSDAY, JANUARY 25TH at our WCYWA practice. The Drawing will be held at our Beef & Boogie on Saturday, January 27th at Radley Run Country Club.
  6. We will be handing out Raffle Tickets starting on TUESDAY, JANUARY 2ND at Practices.

**There will be a Prize Package for the wrestler who sells the most tickets!! Last year’s prize package included 1 FREE year of WCYWA wrestling, as well as College Wrestling memorabilia signed by people like Cael Sanderson (Head Coach Penn State) & Darian Cruz (2017 NCAA Champion).

BEEF & BOOGIE

YOU CAN BUY YOUR BEEF & BOOGIE TICKETS STARTING TONIGHT (1/2/2018) AT PRACTICE!!

Our annual Beef & Boogie is one of the highlights of our wrestling season & a fantastic opportunity for the adults to spend some time together. Last year’s event was so much fun that people are still talking about it! Held at the wonderful Radley Run Country Club, there’s a fantastic full dinner, a full open bar, Cornhole, DJ & Dancing & of course an amazing SILENT AUCTION that raised over $5,000 last year!!!! If you’re new to the club this is an excellent opportunity to get to know everyone & if you’re an “Old Timer” it’s another excuse to spend time with with this great group of people. At $45 a head it is an amaziong bargain… invite your friends & make a night of it!!

WCYWA’s ANNUAL BEEF & BOOGIE Fundraiser!!!

Dinner, Open Bar, DJ, Dancing, Cornhole Tournament, Raffle Drawing…

This year’s fundraiser will once again be held at the fabulous Radley Run Country Club.  Please be sure to invite your friends, family and co-workers for a night of celebration with lots of food, open bar, fun, games & dancing (see attached flyer).  As many of you know this event is held to help raise money to purchase things for the club & our wrestlers such as time clocks, scales, singlets/gear, mats, supplies etc.  We need everyone’s support to help make this event a huge success.   So here is what you need to do to ensure that it is.

  • We need every family to purchase and/or sell a minimum of 2 tickets by January 23, 2018
  • Donate an item to be used in a gift basket for the silent auction and/or raffle by January 23, 2018
  • Ideas for basket items – Movie tickets, Gift cards, Sporting tickets, DVD’s, CD’s, Craft items, Wrestling Gear, Electronics etc
  • We are also in need of baskets & clear cellophane

If your company/family wishes to be a sponsor of our event, please see attached sponsorship letter.  If you wish to ask for a donation from a company or place of business that you may have contacts with, please see attached donation letter.

See it’s that simple!!

Now all you have to do is start SPREADING THE WORD!
